HCC students pursuing a certificate or degree in phlebotomy, medical assisting, or other laboratory-based technical degree in the health sciences are eligible to apply for the Mindy S. Wagaman Scholarship through the Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary.
The award is based on educational intent, scholastic achievement, general character, community or school service, and financial need.
Requirements:
-The applicant must be enrolled in an accredited program leading to a certificate or certification as a phlebotomist, medical lab, cyto, or histo technician or technologist. The applicant must be in good academic standing.
-The award will be based to a limited extent on the student's financial situation. Be fair and honest when estimating what sum you need to complete your education. Itemize your expenses on the application. Documentation of expected costs to attend classes may be required. Scholarship amount will not exceed $1,000.
-An official copy of all grades earned to date should be requested of the HCC registrar. The students should also submit any current grades not included on the official transcript.
-Three references are required including a character reference from a non-family member and two professional references.
-A one-page essay is also required. This essay should be double-space and should explain your career goals as well as why the scholarship should be awarded to you.
