HCC offers personal finance and wealth building courses

This spring, Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education is offering a variety of workshops geared towards enhancing personal finances and building wealth.
The first course, “Understanding Your Tax Return,” is offered on Thurs., Jan. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Career Programs Building. The basic tax return form will be explained and students are encouraged to bring their tax information with them so they can ask questions. Cost is $15.
The second course, “Understanding the Stock Market,” will be held on Sat., Feb. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at HCC’s Valley Mall Center. Course topics include asset classes, saving versus investing, risk and reward, how to invest in stocks, bonds, and cash
equivalents, and how to meet long-term financial goals. Cost is $35.
The third course, “Landlord Crash Course,” is offered on Wednesdays, from March 10 through March 17, from 6 to 9 p.m., at HCC’s Valley Mall Center. This course is geared towards landlords in Washington County and topics include leases, lead paint laws, landlord resources and tips, fair housing laws, evictions, and Hagerstown City Code Enforcement. Cost is $45.
