CAST performs Two Gentlemen of Verona

Hagerstown Community College will host the international theater group, Cambridge American Stage Tour (CAST), on Fri., Sept. 11, at 7 p.m., in HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater, where CAST will perform William Shakespeare’s “Two Gentlemen of Verona.”

According to CAST, “Two Gentlemen of Verona” is a hilarious and heart-warming comedy that tells the story of Proteus and Valentine and their affections for Julia and Silvia. Over the course of the play, the meandering journeys of these lovers bring them into contact with several servants, two clowns, three forest-dwelling outlaws, and a small dog.

Founded in 2000, CAST consists of 16 of the finest actors, directors, designers, and technicians from the University of Cambridge. Students themselves, the members of this theater group will travel 3,500 miles across the Atlantic to perform at 13 venues in nine states up and down the East Coast as part of their 2009 anniversary tour. HCC is one of only two stops in Maryland, the second being Frostburg State University.

Admission is free and this event is open to the public. For more information, contact Student Activities Coordinator Heather Barnhart at 301-790-2800, ext. 225, or via e-mail at barnharth@hagerstowncc.edu. For more information about CAST, go to www.castonline.org.
