Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Wed, 01/14/2009 - 1:00am
Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education is offering two courses specially geared towards young children through the Kindermusik program.
The first course, entitled “Our Time,” is designed for children age 18 months to three years, accompanied by their caregivers, and is offered on Mondays, from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m., from January 19 through April 6, at the Robinwood Retirement Village. In “Our Time,” children will be introduced to animal characters through the use of books, activities and songs. The class is intended to help toddlers develop a rhythm and emerging language skills. Materials provided in your “home” kit include a double CD featuring songs from class, two interactive story books, a home activity book, and fiddlestick instruments. Cost is $150.
The second course, entitled “Family Time,” is designed for families with children, ages two months to seven years. The course is offered on Tuesdays, from 6 to 6:30 p.m., from January 20 through March 31, in the Advanced Technology Center on HCC’s main campus. “Family Time” features a 10-lesson unit that explores singing, movement, story time, family jam, and other musical concepts. The “home” materials include two books, two CD’s, family guide, hand puppet, finger puppet, and two monkey “den-den” drums. Cost is $147. Fee is based on each child participating in the class.
