HCC offers beginners courses in Italian and Spanish

This fall, Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education is offering two beginning language courses in Italian and Spanish.
     
The first course, “Italian—Beginning,” is offered on Thursdays, from Sept. 11 through Dec. 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. at HCC’s Valley Mall Center. Taught by native Italian Elsa Bradford, this course teaches the fundamentals of the Italian language for practical use. Topics covered include elementary grammar, basic vocabulary, and standard conversational Italian.
     
The second course, “Community Spanish,” Spanish focuses on teaching students a wide variety of Spanish phrases, expressions, and questions for use in everyday interactions and conversations. This course is especially geared towards those who intend to travel to Spanish-speaking communities within the United States or abroad for business, missionary work, pleasure trips, or any other situation where practical, everyday Spanish is needed.
     
Community Spanish is offered in three separate sessions from Sept. through Dec. The first session (LAN 097 A) is offered on Wednesdays, from Sept. 17 through Dec. 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. The second session (LAN 097 B) is offered on Thursdays, from Sept. 18 through Dec. 13, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., and the final session (LAN 097 G) is offered on Mondays, from Sept. 29 through Dec. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. The first and second session are both offered at HCC’s Valley Mall Center. The third session is offered at HCC’s Fort Ritchie at Cascade site.
