HCC to present "Taming of the Shrew" in amphitheater
Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Thu, 07/19/2007 - 12:00am
The Robinwood Players at Hagerstown Community College will present William Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew” on Friday, August 10 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, August 11 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the HCC Alumni Amphitheater.
The Robinwood Players will present this age-old “love story” as a comedic farce in which Bianca, the daughter of a wealthy merchant in 16th century Italy, wants to marry. Her father won’t give his permission until Bianca’s shrewish sister Kate marries first. That’s where Petruchio comes in. He’s willing to marry Kate, but first he’ll have to “tame” her.
Kate is played by Courtney Logsdon; Ashley Heckman is Bianca; Jason Buhrman is their father; and Ben Buhrman is Petruchio. An ensemble cast completes the adaptation of this story.
Tickets are $7 and are available at the show, or in advance at the HCC Bookstore. Those dressed in “Renaissance attire” will be able to purchase tickets for $4. Seating is general admission. Some material is not suitable for children under 13. In case of rain, the show will be held in the Kepler Theater. For more information, contact Jason Buhrman, HCC theater technician, at 301-790-2800, ext. 337.
