Notary Basics Course offered at HCC

Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education presents an introductory course for commissioned notaries and those who want to be commissioned in the state of Maryland.
This course will identify the importance and history of the notary, legal responsibilities and duties, purpose of the notary, record keeping, correct notary verbiage, avoiding conflict of interest and how to correctly use and protect the Notary Seal. Students will learn how to apply for a notary commission.
The six-hour course will be held on Monday, April 16, and Monday, April 23, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the HCC Valley Mall Center. The instructor is Joe Cunningham, who is a certified signing agent by the National Notary Association. Total cost is $89, which includes textbook and handouts.
