Criminal Response Emergency Assessment Scenario
Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Wed, 04/12/2006 - 12:00am
Hagerstown Community College will conduct a Criminal Response Emergency Assessment Scenario on Saturday, April 22, beginning at 9 a.m. on the HCC campus. The event is open to the public.
During this mock scenario, students from the paramedic, radiography and criminal justice programs work together to put into practice the skills they’ve learned during their college course work. Students from the Western Maryland Police Academy will team up with HCC criminal justice students this year to investigate the criminal incidents. Students from the Community and Technical College of Shepherd’s paramedic program will also participate.
Members of the Maryland State Police, Hagerstown Police Department and Washington County Sheriff’s Office will assess the performance of the criminal justice students; volunteer fire/rescue workers from both MD and WV along with Community Rescue Service will assess the performance of the EMT students.
The Nursing and Radiology faculty will assess their students’ performance in the scenario. In all, about 80 people will be involved in the activity. The purpose of the activity is to assess student learning and the career programs involved.
For more information, contact Associate Professor of Administration of Justice David Yohman at 301-790-2800, ext. 223.
