Courses for Writers offered at HCC

Hagerstown Community College Center for Continuing Education offers three upcoming courses for writers who would like to get published.
Five-time author Debra Koontz Traverso will teach “Writing a Book and Getting it Published” on Monday, April 10, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The class offers an overview of the most common pitfalls new authors experience, and answers important questions about agents and publishers. Cost is $49.
Author and WriteDirections.com founder Beth Mende Conny will teach “The Writer’s Business Plan” on Tuesday, April 25, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The class discusses the time, energy and financial commitment involved with starting a book, screenplay or other major work. Cost is $45.
Conny will also teach “How to Self-Publish” on Tuesday, June 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. The class examines the pros and cons of self-publishing and discusses the life of a typical book from conception to publication and beyond. Cost is $45.
