Training Quality Dementia Care Works course offered

A day-long course for health care providers entitled “Train the Trainer: Training Quality Dementia Care Workers,” sponsored by Hagerstown Community College Center for Continuing Education, will take place Tuesday, August 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the HCC Valley Mall Center.
This course, taught by an experienced Alzheimer’s education coordinator, will explore adult learning techniques and provide an overview of the basic principles of appropriate activities for the person with dementia as well as how to identify underlying causes of behaviors and tailor responses accordingly. Other topics include the impact of dementia on the individual and family members, and the effect of loss and grief on the care provider.
