Devilbiss earns doctorate

Hagerstown Community College faculty member Connie Devilbiss, professor of sociology, recently received her second earned doctorate. Devilbiss was awarded a D.Min. (Doctor of Ministry) degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in commencement ceremonies held at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
Devilbiss previously earned an M.S. and Ph.D. in sociology from Purdue University and did her post-doctoral work at Yale University. In 1991, Connie earned the master’s of arts in religion from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg and subsequently entered the doctor of ministry program at Wesley. Devilbiss’s doctoral project was entitled "Nun Like Me: A Participant-Observation Study of Religious Life in the Episcopal Church."
