Supplemental Application for the Dental Hygiene Program

BEFORE SUBMITTING A SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION FOR A HEALTH SCIENCE PROGRAM, YOU MUST SUBMIT AN ADMISSION APPLICATION.

This supplemental application, official transcripts from all colleges attended (HCC calculates cumulative GPA from all college coursework), the Dental Hygiene Observation form and official scores for the ACT® WorkKeys® National Career Readiness Assessment must be received by the April 1 deadline to be eligible for the program. The following credits must be completed or in progress at the time of the application to be eligible for admission. ENG 101 - English Composition, BIO 116 - Human Anatomy and Physiology for Allied Health OR BIO 203 - Human Anatomy and Physiology I must be completed and BIO 204 - Human Anatomy and Physiology II must be completed or in progress, CHM 101 - Introductory College Chemistry or higher, and a Mathematics course selected from the approved General Education course list ( MAT 116 - Statistical Reasoning preferred). The following courses are strongly recommended to be completed prior to the program start date: PSY 101 - General Psychology, an Arts/Humanities course selected from the approved General Education course list, COM 103 - Public Speaking or COM 108 - Introduction to Human Communication , and BIO 205 - Microbiology. ** Beginning with students applying for the April 1, 2026 deadline, PSY 101 - General Psychology must be completed or in progress at the time at the application deadline and the following courses must be completed with a minimum grade of “C” or higher by the start of the program: BIO 205 - Microbiology, COM 103 - Public Speaking or COM 108 - Introduction to Human Communication, and an Arts/Humanities course selected from the approved General Education course list. Additional information can be accessed at the Registration office or in the HCC Catalog. Each student must submit an HCC Dental Hygiene Observation Form documenting 8 hours of observations. Observations older than 3 years will not be accepted. Each student must submit official scores for the ACT® WorkKeys® National Career Readiness Assessments. The assessments measure foundational skills required for entry in the dental hygiene program. Applicants need to achieve a WorkKeys® assessment level of 5 in Applied Math, 5 in Graphic Literacy, and 4 in Workplace Documents taken within the last three years. Program acceptance or denial letters will be mailed out by mid-May. Please note that all accepted students must attend the mandatory orientation which is usually held the second Friday in June.
