HCC students and academic advisors must have a working relationship in order to effectively plan and execute a student’s academic or career plan. Academic advisors are available to assist students with the interpretation of placement tests/standardized test scores, transferability of courses, and academic/course planning.
The following students are encouraged to meet with a general academic advisor:
- New students
- Undecided students
- Students taking developmental courses
- Student-Athletes
- Students with Disabilities
- Pre-Nursing and Pre-Radiography students
- Students receiving services through JTSR (Job Training Student Resourses)
Once a student has decided on a Major/Program of Study and do not fall into one of the categories above, they are encouraged to meet with a faculty member in their area of study for academic advising needs.
